Part of our Yoga Therapy Certification Program. Take one module or enroll in the Program!

TEACHERS: JESSICA CAPLAN, DANA SLAMP, JESAL PARIKH, AND BRITTANY SIMONE

Online | Optionally at Pure Yoga NYC for some sessions

Immerse yourself in the transformative healing of sound.

Learn how sound creates the world - and how to use mantra, music, vibration and rhythm to support the healing process. Review the science of sound therapy, and how music can improve mental processing. Deepen the strength of and connection to your voice with chanting and supportive toning techniques.

Apply classic yogic mantras to group and one-on-one yoga sessions for wellness, and begin incorporating sound elements into your classes and practice. Learn the structure of a sound bath  - beginning to create unique sound experiences.

You'll be introduced to the Himalayan bowls, Koshi chimes, tuning forks, and more. Feel free to join us live for a Shruti box and harmonium lesson  - at no extra charge!

We hope you leave feeling refreshed and empowered to weave sound into your teaching and practice.

* This is a required course for YT certification. All curious yogis, teachers, and and health and wellness professionals are welcome to join! *

In this Course, you will learn:

  • Toning using seed syllables to free the voice

  • The relationship of manifestation and sound

  • Traditional stories behind the mantras

  • An introduction to working with sound instruments

  • How to use mantra in everyday life and in classes respectfully and mindfully

  • The concepts of resonance, entrainment, cymatics, deep listening, and more

  • The science behind sound work for wellness and supporting the immune system

  • Classic chants to support holistic wellness, to ground oneself as teacher, and more

  • Using chants as part of a steadying personal practice (or sadhāna)

  • The structure of a sound bath

  • Introduction to playing the meditative instruments - including the shruti box and harmonium

  • How to interweave sound work into a hatha yoga class

PYI Continuing Education (CE) Courses

Calling all yoga pros!

Looking to deepen your yoga knowledge, but can't yet commit to a 300 hour yoga teacher advanced program?

At last, you can study with us online, anytime in our Continuing Education (CE) Courses.

Like all PYI trainings, our CE Courses focus on giving you professional skills and a personal experience that you can apply immediately to your teaching and practice.

“PYI created a well structured and thoughtful course. The teachers were knowledgeable, available, and the sessions were recorded so even mom’s could participate! Most importantly, there was a deep sense of community and openness, which is something that can be hard to find in an online experience. I will definitely be participating in future PYI workshops!”

Prema Yoga Institute

Prema Yoga Institute ("PYI") offers holistic yoga therapy instruction to empower the healing process.

PYI Yoga Therapists* draw from a classical array of Ayurvedic and yogic techniques to encourage health in body, mind, and spirit. Sessions are modified for a comprehensive range of mental and physical imbalances, encouraging you to participate in your healing through yogic exercise, meditation, breathing, mindfulness, relaxation, and more.

Additionally, PYI provides continuing education to medical professionals so that evidence-based yoga techniques may be used in the field at large.  We are happy to offer Continuing Education Units to nurses, psychologists, and social workers for certain workshops.
