Asana Chikitsa "belly up" - linking the abdominal wall to the shoulder region, and the head to the neck and shoulders
The holistic PYI approach of YT client intake, assessment, protocol development and implementation
Healthcare-related regulations and rules, including universal precautions
Pranayama for post-COVID-19 and prevention
How to preserve the therapeutic relationship
Legal guidelines for confirming consent with clients
Research strategies in preparing protocols
When and how to refer out to other service providers, as appropriate
Advanced knowledge regarding cancer diagnoses, and how to mange symptoms with yoga and contemplative techniques
The Ayurvedic perspective of disease, including more in-depth practice of intake and protocol creation
Setting priorities while appealing to the sattvic state of the clients’ prakrti in YT methodology (particularly when choosing a contemplative practice)
The Sutra teachings of Desikachar as compared to Western psychology to distinguish the critical role of “relationship” in the Krishnamacharya tradition of YT
Proper YT/ client boundaries from Desikachar’s perspective
Integrating ROM assessments and vata-balancing techniques from the Hatha yoga Pawanmuktasana series
Using case studies and SOAP notes in yoga therapy
This online, interactive course hone your skills in working in a collaborative and complementary fashion with other service providers.
The module includes a research paper and short presentation concerning a particular imbalance or pathology, and what prospective protocol the student would suggest within the PYI approach. Additionally, students are required to complete a 21-day meditation sadhana.
Following Advanced Yoga Therapy, students will have the skills to effectively utilize their knowledge and succeed in the practicums, and to pursue careers as certified professional yoga therapists.

Successful completion of this course provides the following credit:
75 hours towards PYI's IAYT-accredited 850-hour Yoga Therapy Certificate Program
Successful grads of this course, all prerequisites, and anatomy trainings are then deemed Yoga Therapy Candidates - eligible to begin Clinical Practicums
